Who are they?
A bassist, singer and composer born in 1967 in Minta, in the east of the country. He played in the jazz clubs of Douala before training in Germany and then France.
What made them famous
In 1995 Harry Belafonte recruited him for his band, bringing him to New York. There he became one of the most in-demand bassists in jazz, playing alongside Joe Zawinul, Pat Metheny and the Brecker brothers, before leading his own career.

- Named international artist of the year at the Victoires du Jazz in 2004.
- Grammy-nominated in 2005 for his album "Tiki".
- Received the Sacem Grand Prix for Jazz in 2012.
