The story
In Kolofata, a Far North village attacked by Boko Haram since 2013, the camera follows three children: Falta, who lost her father to a suicide bombing, and the brothers Mohamed and Ibrahim, who escaped the group's camps. Between school and herding, they try to build a future under army protection.
Why it matters
Cyrielle Raingou's first feature. It won the Tiger Award, the top prize at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, in 2023. The jury praised the film-maker's 'patient and honest gaze' on ever-present violence seen through children's eyes.
Filming
Kolofata, in the Far North Region near the Nigerian border; a France–Cameroon co-production.
